MEXIQUÍ HOSTEL

This place has many different options to pick from: Mexican, Italian and Japanese cuisine, plus seafood and a handful of vegan options. Its pricing is rather adequate and it has a rooftop with a nice view, though service might be quicker if seated downstairs.

LA FRAPP CAFÉ

This coffee shop is right at the roof top of the Porrua book store. One has to go inside the bookstore, take the elevator to the 2nd floor and then go to the RIGHT (to the left is the restaurant El Mayor, which is fancier and also quite pricier).
This place serves mainly paninis and salads, so it’s ideal for a light lunch. The view definitely worth it.

CANTINA SALON ESPAÑA

This is a traditional Mexican Cantina and a great option to get a cheap full meal. Definitely the least touristy option within the list, and just around the block from San Ildefonso. Food service starts around 1 pm. The menu changes daily, and there are also a la carte options.

RUSTIK MEZCALERIA

This place is a slightly more hipster version of a cantina. Here you can get moderately-priced-yet-tasty Mexican food and good mezcal. New menu daily as well as a la carte offerings.

XOLOITZCUINCLE

This place to Rustik, though the decoration and menu are more generic (they didn’t let me take pictures) The perk is that it is in front of the cathedral, so you can go grab a gulp of beauty after lunch.
